Download and install SAMScan in your computers

Run SAMScan

Review SAMScan results

Submit results

Enquire your records and make necessary updates/amendment

Step 1

Download and Install SAMScan
  1. Visit <http://cciis.ad.cityu.edu.hk/samscan/main.htm

 

 


  1. Select the appropriate SAMScan program version, according to your PC connection type.

For details, please refer to the Operation Guide.

Step 2

Run SAMScan  

  1. Select your department

  2. Enter your e-mail account

  3. Select the OS platform 

  4. Enter machine identity (Optional) for easy reference, such as FAS number, Serial number, Location

  5. Click <Scan> 

  6. Results will be generated

Step 3

Review SAMScan Results 

Personal License

For software item owned/acquired by staff member and NOT the property of the University, please tick the "Personal License" box (category would be changed to "Per. License").  All members of the University is obliged to observe and to comply with the principles and requirements of the Intellectual Property Ordinance.  Breach of the Ordinance can result in criminal liability.

 


 

Need License/Unknown

  1. If software provided by your Faculty/School/Department/Research Centre – please enter the name of the related support staff in the REMARKS column to facilitate the validation of software license  

  2. If software owned/acquired by you – please tick the "Personal License" box in the REMARKS column

  3. If software downloaded from Internet – please provide website address/reference in the REMARKS column

Step 4

Submit Results

  • Click <SUBMIT>

  • System deliver the results to central database for consolidation

Step 5

Enquire Results (if desired)

  1. Visit AIMS - Other Systems - Software Asset Management

  2. Select "SAMScan - Enquiry List by User"

     


  3. Review the submitted results

  4. For necessary updates/amendment, re-run SAMScan and submit the results
